I think that words hold so much power.
Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me.
Do you remember this childhood chant? Hmmm… I’m not so sure about that one. I think words have the power to make or break us. Is your inner dialogue inspiring or nagging? Does it empower you or create self-doubt? Choosing to own or embrace certain words can create a self-fulfilling prophecy… If you tell yourself something often enough, you become it.
I had several inspirations for this Muse series. The month long reflection session over at Reverb 10 during December of last year provided daily prompts to use at jumping off points to ponder the year that had been and set intentions for the year to come. And after signing up for Alison’s (of the lovely Brocante Home ) Puttery Posts last year, one of the many inspiring suggestions which arrived in my inbox was to pick a single word to define my goals for the upcoming year.
So the Muse series is something I intend to revisit approximately once a month and consists of me picking a particular word to meditate on for that month. Within the series I intend to discuss what the word means to me, how it is relevant in my current situation, and how I have found inspiration musing over the concept. Where appropriate I also hope to provide some resources for you to incorporate these musings into your own life.
Here are some of the words I hope to Muse over in the coming months:
What do you think? Is there a particular word that you like to meditate on, that you find centres and focuses you and provides you with inspiration? Let me know in the comments section below.
