Hello Lovely Adventurer,
I’m so glad you popped by today! So many months after I bought the fabric… too many months after Belle was born, AND quite a few weeks after I showed you this photo, I have finally finished my little embroidery hoop project for Belle’s nursery.
There are still a few more things to do with her room, and I decided if I waited until it was all ready to go, I probably wouldn’t share these with you until sometime next year! So I took a few photos yesterday afternoon and here they are:
I’ve not used embroidery hoops before, so was a little baffled as to the correct technique, but after securing and trimming the fabric, I used PVA glue to fasten it down. I also backed each hoop with felt before starting the embroidery, as I thought it would be a little more stable then… I don’t think that’s how the pros do it, just quietly!
Again, not sure I’m using the proper terminology, but for the hoop with the text on it, I:
- Printed out the text I wanted using a pretty font named Airplanes in the Night Sky
- Then, using a fancy waxy pencil and my iron, I transferred the words onto my fabric
- After securing the fabric into the hoop as I mentioned above, I backstitched over the font with a contrasting embroidery thread.

…And because I just can’t resist, here’s a picture of the Sweetness herself from a couple of days ago…
