Gingerbread-House

A New Tradition

Hello Friend,

A couple of days ago I had a couple of friends visit with their little ones, and we set about starting a new tradition which I’ve wanted to try since Ava was a baby.  We made gingerbread houses.  In many respects (as you can see from the picture above) it was a disaster!  But we succeeded in having heaps of fun, a good laugh… and the kids were delighted at having so many lollies close at hand!

We are already thinking about how we can make things easier for next year (more architectural stability for the gingerbread for one!) and I love that I was finally able to start this tradition with my girls!

I can’t believe there are only three sleeps to go… I’m about to go downstairs, get sewing some Christmas goodies and watch Love Actually (this is my favourite part of the whole movie).

I am not kidding when I say we are literally doing the same thing just in different countries. I have to send you some pictures of our gingerbread house, which ended up in the trash after it collapsed! Luckily, I bought a kit with a tiny ginger bread house village and we each made one. The tiny houses were a lot more stable and super cute.

And, Peter and I watched Love, Actually just 2 days ago! LOVE that movie!!!

Ha! Yes I think smaller might be better when it comes to gingerbread houses! Our roof fell in around 4 times before we decided to take it off all together. Have you seen those little tiny gingerbread houses that sit on the edge of a coffee mug? I’d love to try them – although without any lollies not so much fun for the kids! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas Elizabeth! Hope it’s not too hectic for you – not long now until you’re a family of five!
