Our Northern Adventure

Cape-Reinga

Hello Friend,

How’ve you been?  It feels like I’ve been doing laundry and endlessly unpacking ever since we got back from our hols earlier this week – although I must admit, I’ve also taken a moment or two to take advantage of this amazing summery weather!!  We had the most amazing time – spending time as a family and exploring a spot we had not visited together before.  We made so many special memories, but if I had to narrow it down, I would say the highlights were: the Stonestore in Kerikeri; the amazing views at Cape Reinga; fishing for sprats off the wharf at Mangonui and eating the most delicious fish & chips; beach walks and soccer games on the lawn at the bach in Rangiputa; and on the way home we got to cross the Hokianga Harbour on a car ferry, and finally walking through the Waipoua forest amongst the kauri giants (including Tane Mahuta) trying to spot fairies.

I hope your week has been just as magical – and let’s hope that this mini-summer is here to stay for a little longer!

Thanks Rachel! ‘Up North’ is great – and what I loved about this trip was discovering how much there actually was to do & see up there… It’s so much fun exploring your own backyard, and I’ve found we see things differently through the kids eyes now. We’re already planning our next little get away to Coromandel Town in June!

Ha Terri! I think the Meredith genes are strong for sure!! Thanks so much for your lovely words – I will have to dig around for the photos of us when we were little – Mum thinks they are in storage at the moment, but they are somewhere for sure!! I think there will be many special memories made in Rangiputa for many years to come!!
