Lola’s Fairy Birthday

Hello Friend!

I went through all of Lola’s birthday photos last night.

To be honest, it was a bit of a sad selection.

I’m a bit like that – I always have every intention of getting great photos at birthdays etc, but when it comes to the actual celebration, I just forget.  I guess I get too caught up in the celebration and making sure all the other things are organised that I just forget about the camera.

There are so many memorable events that we do not have family photos for – sometimes it makes me feel kinda sad, and think that I will be better with photos in future – but I never seem to be able to follow through on that intention.

How about you?  Do you have your family celebrations well documented??

Apart from poor Belle-bee being so sick, it was a really wonderful day.  And I was also pleasantly introduced to one of the advantages of having three girls so close together – Ava has scraped all ideas of having a ladybug party, and has now decided she wants a fairy party too* – so all the decorations and planning ideas will be put to good use once again in October!  Phew!

(*I’m pretty sure it was the visit to the Fairy shop to get a fairy cake topper that did it! When we got there both Ava and Lola needed to use the bathroom – and while we were in there Ava asked me in an excited whisper if the shop assistant was a real fairy!!)

Do you recycle birthday plans?  I guess I always knew a day would come when they would all want the same princess/fairy/pink themed parties – I’m not sure how long it will last, but I have a feeling it’ll be a while.  It’s quite nice not having to start from scratch every time but I do hope there are some out of the box parties in my future too!!

Such a cute party! I saved all Noweo’s decorations from her 1st birthday because they’re fun and timeless and easy to store so I’ll probably be pulling them out again (and even re-using them for any future girls).

Nothing wrong with not getting a ton of pictures. I think the ones you did get look great! Sometimes I get so caught up in picture taking that the moment slips by, so I purposefully leave my camera alone so that I can fully enjoy the moment. Seems like you did just that and I don’t think you’ll regret it :)

      Hi Ihilani,

I think I always worry that my hoarding tendencies have taken over and what I want to save isn’t really useful – so I’m glad to hear you do the same!

Yes, I agree it’s a careful balance between being part of the memory-making and actually recording the memories – and I think in the end the former is definitely more important!!!!

Thanks Jennifer! Yep – the fairy shop is absolutely gorgeous – when we went in I had to remind myself I was the adult and resist the urge to dress up as a fairy with some wings and a wand and some fairy dust!!

Wow Hana! Fantastic way to celebrate a birthday. Fairies!
I really wish my only daughter would want a fairy themed birthday, but because she has older brothers, girly themes are usually something she warms up to. But she’s always happy on the day. I don’t know if you do photobooks, but we’ve found them to be a great way to document life’s celebrations and everyday happenings.
Anyway, beautiful cake, cuppies, decorations, EVERYTHING! And the photos, awesome!

Hey thanks Marce! I did photobooks as a Christmas present for grandparents a couple of years ago and I really loved them – I should definitely give them another go – thanks for the tip!!
