I’m reading this book at the moment, Growing Up Global, by Homa Sabet Tavangar. I’m only up to chapter one, but I’ve found myself nodding my head furiously over and over again… and highlighting huge portions of each page (yep, I’m one of those people who scribbles in the margins!)
When writing of the purpose she hopes the book fulfills, she writes “Simply put, positive experiences with the world’s cultures enhance our lives.” and she talks about making international awareness and world citizenship a family value.
I love that. And I totally believe in it.
Little World is a new feature here, and we’ll be taking weekly adventures all around the world – learning about different cultures, through crafting and cooking, reading and lots of other fun.
To kick things off, I’ve got a fun printable for you to track our adventures: The Little World Passport.
You can print off the cover and inside cover in a variety of colours below, depending on your kiddo’s favourites!! If you are technically minded you might just be able to print off the pages in some sort of double-sided fashion so that there is no glue involved. If you are more like me, then just print the two pages on separate pages, cut them out and glue together…voila! Once it’s printed, you can get your little adventurer to fill in his/her details and print off a little picture to stick in there too. As the weeks go by, I’ll provide you with new pages to add to the passport as we adventure around the world.
I am SO super-dooper excited about this project! I hope that you are excited too – and that you and your little ones will have as much fun following along with the series as me and my family will have creating it!
