Hello Friend!

I’m Hana.  This is my blog.

And before we go any further, let me share one thing with you…

I believe in magic.

No silly!  Not the hocus pocus wizards and hippogriffs type of magic (although, that would be awesome!!)

The OTHER kind.

WHAT?!  You didn’t know there was another kind?!  Well, let me assure you there is – come on you know what I’m talking about…

The magic that is a moment of pure joy.

The magic of fond memories that warm hearts.

The magic of shared laughter.

The magic of making something out of a little.

The magic of learning something new.

The magic which is delight in a little one’s eyes.

The magic of unconditional love and a world of adventure and possibility right at your front door.

Yep – that magic!!!!

At the heart of things, I’m an eternal optimist.  I just can’t help it.  I look at life and I see this wonderful opportunity to make beautiful things happen.  I see each day, each month, each year, and I can’t help but wonder what amazing things are in store.  What adventures are waiting?  What possibilities will unfold?

A Happy Adventure is all about my quest to MAKE MAGIC EVERY DAY!!

I’m a dreamer, a planner, a goal-setter.  I’m always thinking 38 steps ahead of myself.  But this blog is my space to be intentional.  To do all that dreaming and planning, but to also bask in the joy that is infront of me right now – and I invite you to do the same.

Trust me – I spend a fair amount of time agonising over my ability to pursue my creative passions and also be present and intentional with my family.  If you really want to read more about my inner struggles – here and here are both great places to start.

It’s a common struggle though, isn’t it?  Finding that magical balance between family and work; self and motherhood; realism and eternal optimism; sleep deprivation and the quiet hours of getting things done.

I may not share with you photos of my inability to keep on top of our mountainous laundry pile, or the dust bunnies (GIANT bunnies!) under our couch… but I hope to provide you with an honest and heart-felt account of my pursuit of magical and intentional moments in my daily life.

And I hope that while I am on my own journey of creating magical moments (both small and large) for myself and my family that I can help and inspire you to do the same.

Perhaps I’ve rambled for long enough?

Should I get into the nitty gritty?  So yes, I believe in magic.  Specifically, I believe that a magical childhood – a childhood in which a child is raised to be curious and imaginative, loved and confident, joyous and wonder-filled – will grow an adult who will chase joy and happiness, follow her beliefs and passions and make her entire life a daring adventure.  And I believe the world needs more people like that.

A Happy Adventure is all about exploring the different ways we can make these magical childhoods possible… (and as soon as I get organised enough I’m going to add some categories and links to make navigating easy-peasy… Watch this space!!)

But wait, there’s more!

Ah yes, I’ve definitely rambled on for long enough now!  But, I thought I better throw in just a little bit of background about me.

These four are the loves of my life.  Yes, I know.  I’m sorry – but seriously.  I’m that soppy!  Barry and I have known each other since we were 13.  A twosome since we were 17.  I love that we share so much history… we’ve taken the journey from childhood to ‘responsible adult’ (mortgage holder/spouse/parent) together and it’s been an amazing adventure.

Those three little girls.  Our girls.  They are just three bundles of joy.  Ava (5), Lola (4) and Belle (2).  Seriously delicious.  They make me laugh everyday and I love seeing the world through their wonder-filled eyes.

Me?  Ok, quickly thinking, what to share?  32.  How did that happen?  Living on the outskirts of Auckland, New Zealand.  In the house that Jack built.  Started blogging June 2011.

Loves (in no particular order): planning fantasy holidays, walking in the city, quiet time, snuggling in bed, the smell of a book, cheesy 80s/90s movies,  the promise of a new crafty project, libraries, kindness, cupcakes, watching sleeping babies,  story-time, spending time in the kitchen, planning parties, colour, Harry Potter, sewing, Disneyland, anything French, Murder She Wrote, sleeping in, yum char, an unexpected conversation, delighted squeals, movie night, board games, any time I get to learning something new.

Alright.  I think, that’s a wrap!
